Letter from the Editor

The new Album has arrived. Kids, your Christmas presents may be a bit late this year as I have made Santa an offer he can not refuse. He is letting FC use his Elves to pack and despatch copies of SIMPLE to all those that have pre-ordered the album. Hope you all enjoy it as much as Final Conflict loved working on it. Now the boys are rehearsing hard for the up coming gigs.

11/2006

Well the Gaolhouse is really rocking at the moment. Final Conflict are rehearsing a full 2-hour set and playing many of the songs from the new album, Simple.
The album is due for delivery in the next 3 weeks and should be available in time for Christmas, just. So all those who pre ordered can start counting the days.

Final Conflict will be throwing a special Christmas gig at the Rigger on 23rd December. This will be a very special night. The new album will be on sale and the band will be unveiling their new drummer! It will also be our first gig at the Rigger since it reopened.

10/2006

The new album "Simple" is now going through the final stages of mastering and every effort is going in to getting the album released before Christmas. No, this is not a cynical marketing ploy to try and get a Christmas number one!

The band is tracking down a new drummer and it is determined to arrange gigs to give the new album a great launch into the "Progosphere". More on the new drummer and gig dates in the next week or two.

First a thank you to Dave Alexander who helped us complete the title track of the new album "(it should have been) Simple". Dave can often be found drumming for the legendary "Guitar George" (he knows all the chords) that Dire Straits took inspiration from and we were delighted when he agreed to help us out.

It was fast work from Dave laying down the drums for "Simple" in one session. Quite an achievement as the track may well go down as Final Conflict's most challenging tracks.

Within the new album "Simple" there are re-workings of songs from the original cassette albums, like "The Following" and Channel 8. There are songs that have been regular hits at our live shows, that have "grown" from their original versions on the early CD albums and Then there is "(it should have been) Simple". This song is a mirror to the whole album reflecting eight classic Final Conflict tracks (seven on this album). I know the band are pleased with the end result and are itching to get out and play so keep an eye out for gig dates very shortly.

If you "simply" cannot wait for your copy of "Simple" or want to make sure that you get a copy of the first pressing then please contact me through THE_EDITOR_fc-music.com .   Final Conflict are offering free delivery to all orders placed through the web site prior to the release of the album. So that's a copy of "Simple" and free delivery for just £10 (€15 Euro - $19 US)

Well as promised further news from the Land of Final Conflict.

The running order will be, 1.Solitude, 2.Rebellion, 3.The Janus, 4.Channel 8, 5.Pangeas Child, 6.The Following, 7.All Alone, 8.It Should Have Been Simple.

The running time for the album will be close on one hour so the boys are giving us value for money as always. The first seven tracks feature the drumming of Chris Moyden and he treated us to some of the best drumming ever to appear on an FC album. The final track is a new song based on the earlier seven tracks but also reflecting the musical journey of Final Conflict's 21-year history. Intrigued! Well you will be able to hear for your self very soon. The last track features the drumming of Dave Alexander Waszkowski who took time out from his other commitments to help us finish the album. More about Dave and the background to the songs later.

Gaolhouse Studio Renovation

Over the Christmas period and into 2006 Final Conflict could put off the inevitable no longer. The prospect of another winter in a cold dark studio was too much and direct action was the order of the day. It was interesting to see if the musical styles and characteristics of the band members were reflected in their DIY skills.

Chris Chalk with large hammer in hand stated, "I'm good at knocking things down but not so good at putting them up again". He was immediately assigned the job of making coffee.

Steve Lipiec had a style and approach all of his own to DIY. The others gave up trying to fathom his technique and left him to work solo.

Andy Lawton and Brian Donkin took to the task like ducks to water although at times it was difficult to tell if more paint hit the walls or each other.

Andy admiring Steve's work.         Brian taking yet another well earned rest.

In the end the band had new lights for the main rehearsal room, refurbished the entrance hall and stairs, and brought the washroom into the 21 st century. All in all it was a job well done.
